Quality Fishing Gear

At Mike's Lures, we provide a wide selection of high-quality fishing gear designed to enhance your fishing experience. Most of our lures are carefully hand-made and customized to ensure durability and effectiveness on the water.  Mike's Lures builds and customizes offshore lures around what predatory fish are actually feeding on—not what looks good on a tackle-store shelf.

How it all started.

In 2021, right before the pandemic ended, Mike was casually browsing the web and came upon a company that sold photo-realistic shrink wrap that could fit on almost any lure. Curious, he bought a few of these "skins" in flying fish and menhaden colors and built a couple of Halco 130 Max versions to try on the next tuna trip. Not only did these lures work, they outperformed a standard Halco five to one! Over the next year, we tested these in Florida and Texas waters with similar results, using different lures. A quick search for a domain and Mike's Lures was born! We still build these one at a time by hand and have perfected a method to adhere the skin to the lure before shrink wrapping it and coating the lure in multiple coats of epoxy.

How to choose the lure for your type of fishing. First, decide whether you fish saltwater or freshwater. Then look at the body of water you fish and the type of fish you target. What are the predominant species of baitfish in the area? Flying fish? Mackerel? Bluegill? Shad? That's the skin you'll want as it really does pay off to "Match the Hatch"! Whether it's a popper for giant tuna or a crankbait for that next 10lb bass, chances are we have it on our site.
