Custom Saltwater Lures
In flyfishing, the term "match the hatch" means finding out what prey fish are actively feeding on and mimicking that prey's look and action to fool a fish into biting. Today, there are more lures that catch fishermen than catch fish, so you'll appreciate the attention to detail we offer with offshore lures. Whether you want the best poppers for tuna, a swimbait that looks like a mackerel or butterfly jigs that imitate a squid or cigar minnow, we have baits which will cause big fish to spin and attack.
Mike North
has been fishing both fresh and saltwater for over 55 years. In the past 30 years, tuna trips in the Gulf of Mexico and exotic locations like Cabo San Lucas have tested his strength and stamina. To say Mike has a passion for saltwater fishing is an understatement. After moving to Houston and buying a bay boat with the thought of continuing to bass fish lakes like Fayette County and Sam Rayburn, he started targeting redfish and trout in the Galveston Bay complex. This soon gave way to trips to Destin and Pensacola where catching 20lb red snapper and 40+lb amberjack 3 miles from the beach was commonplace. Venturing as far as 35 miles offshore on calm days led to the purchase of a 27ft Seahunt with a 400 mile trip capability. You'll regularly see Mike and his buddies targeting tuna at the "floaters" (floating oil rigs in 3000+ feet of water) or wahoo at the Flower Gardens. This passion led to the creation of Mike's Lures.

Process
Our Process
Mike’s Lures are indestructible! Our process consists of applying a strong adhesive to the lure prior to our realistic shrink wrap skins. Our heat process “welds” the skin to the lure creating a permanent bond. The process is completed with a triple coat of a clear resin. We pride ourselves in providing a product that not only stands the test of time but one that can handle the fight of your prize catch!
